Volunteer Opportunities

Want to help with feral cat colonies? You are at the right place!

To continue providing Central Illinois with ongoing services, we need additional volunteers. A description of the duties for each position can be viewed . Most duties can be split among volunteers. If you are interested or need additional information for a position, please call 309-663-4406 and leave your name and number or email us.

available volunteer opportunities
Spay/Neuter Clinic: Once a Month (except January)

SUNDAY MORNING:

  • Provide food & water to cats in traps
  • Clean traps
  • Wash/dry food/water dishes
  • Transfer cats from carrier to trap if needed for incoming cats

TUESDAY MORNING:

  • Assist with unloading cats from Animal Protective League (APL truck)
  • Preapre cats for return to colony managers by seperating into groups
  • Transfer cats from traps to carrier if needed
  • Clean debris from and wash traps (may occasionally  need help on a different day)
  • Transport cats to colony manager if needed
FEEDERS FOR COMMUNITY CAT COLONIES: POSITIONS NOW OPEN IN EL PASO
  • Assist colony manager with providing food and water at colonies per assigned day
  • Assist with winterizing shelters at colonies if needed
  • Report any concerns at colonies
FUNDRAISER EVENTS (CAT SHOWS AND DINNERS)
  • Transport merchandise and display equipment to (cat shows - Friday afternoon) (dinners - Sunday afternoon) and take down (cat shows - Friday afternoon) (dinners - Sunday evening)
  • Assist with set-up (cat shows - Friday afternoon) (dinners - Sunday afternoon) and take down (cat shows - Friday afternoon) (dinners - Sunday afternoon)
  • Assist with event (cat shows - selling merchandise) (dinners - selling merchandise, kitchen assistance, clean tables)
TRAP STORAGE
  • Store traps and deliver to staging area or colony manager as needed

  • Inquire about fund-raising participation
  • Make a monetary donation to support the Sterile Feral Foundation's activities
  • Spay or neuter your cats and remind your friends and family to do the same!
