This Adorable Kitten Needs a Life-Saving Surgery to Live a Normal Healthy Life

Jimmy came to a Sterile Feral person as yet another starving, dehydrated, flea and worm-infested kitten who appeared to be easy to stabilize with plenty of food, hydration, flea treatment and worm medicine.

But even as he cleaned up, ate well and all parasites were gone, his Mom noticed his coordination and cognition were different.  He began to move about and play a little but he slept a great deal.  He became very bonded with his Mom, running to be with her the minute he saw her and snuggling in bed, where he must see her face or he taps on her arm to move it.  They have been as close as any Mom and kitten can be.

But his health began to worsen.  He has not been able to gain significant weight like a typical healthy kitten.  His coordination worsened.  Comprehensive blood test results were troubling but not definitive.  Another Sterile Feral person and the veterinarian began to suspect the problem is a liver shunt.  An abdominal ultrasound proved this is clearly the diagnosis.

Surgical correction of a liver shunt is a complex but workable procedure for the right patient.  University of Illinois consultation indicates they believe they can repair this successfully, but Jimmy needs to gain as much weight as possible before surgery.  To achieve this, Jimmy must eat a special diet and receive nutritional supplements, as well as continuing care office visits.  Sterile Feral has been providing all medical care including testing and ultrasound, and will continue to do so with special diet, all supplies and University of Illinois surgery.

This has been very expensive and will be more so with surgery.  But Sterile Feral, his skilled veterinarians and Jimmy's beloved Mom have not given up on him.

Please help us move forward with the weight gain and surgery stages needed to give him a normal healthy life.  This will all be very expensive and all of your support is needed to help save his life. Please click on the donate button to help us achieve this worthy goal.  Thank you!
