Franken’s story began much like many others–a feral cat roaming un-neutered in a small town, looking for food and shelter. He finds a home to feed him, but also brings with him a serious injury that had caused a 10 inch open wound to his back and neck. His feeders call Sterile Feral for advice and help, and through their patience and considerable efforts are able to get him in a carrier and to our veterinarian for treatment.
Franken’s open wound was a maggot infested mess. One of our skillful veterinarians was able to clean this up, staple, suture, medicate and send him home to recover. He was also neutered of course!
Franken was kept inside to recover, which was necessary to insure no more infection, injury or infestation. This often required much work and effort from his caretakers, scaring them as he would dig at his recovering but uncomfortable wound. Everyone persisted and through pain medicine, sedatives, vet visits and a comfortable heated room,
Franken has decided he likes being a housecat and wants to stay. His people love him and are dedicated to his care. Many thanks to them for caring enough to begin this journey with Franken and to our dedicated veterinarian for fixing this difficult injury. We are all wishing a long, happy life for Franken and family. Isn’t he a beautiful guy!!
