Bandit came to the attention of a kind person in a trailer court who feeds and watches over outside cats. The right side of his face and ear were a bloody mess and although he was still coming to eat, it was evident he needed immediate medical care. Your donations are what help us to help cats liked Bandit.
His feeder was able to get him into a carrier and to our veterinarian in record time. Bandit's initial photos are too graphic to show but with oral medicine and topical and oral painkillers he began to heal and feel better. He was kept inside for an extensive recovery period and for his safety. Bandit was a shy cat but warmed up to his caregiver and became snuggly and loving with her. This was probably the first human affection and care he had ever known in his life.
We will never know exactly what animal attacked him but it was clear he could never go back outside there and risk the same thing happening to him again. Initially, no one including the veterinarian was entirely sure he would live. But everyone perservered with medicine, vet visits and healing, and as you can see now, he is a beautiful creamy wound-free cat. Bandit is living permanently with one of our most trusted Sterile Feral people. He has plush beds, a cat tree, his own window and all the toys he can ever want.
Most importantly, he has a devoted person who will love and protect him forever and recently a new addition to his life--a darling black kitten named Violet. Violet was adopted as his companion and the transformation in Bandit is amazing! He plays like a kitten himself now and nurtures her like a big brother with grooming and cuddling. Bandit had not shown any interest in play before Violet appeared. In his short life from kitten to young adulthood, he probably never had the chance to play or be loved by anyone. Without a person who cared enough to call Sterile Feral for intervention, none of this would have happened and he most likely would have died alone somewhere in that trailer court.
Bandit is a healthy, safe, confident, much loved and needed cat to Violet and his person now. We wish them many happy years ahead together and were thankful to be able to save his life.
